WoW How to: Jobs

This is a filler post I’ll be building upon over the next few days and then submit as an assignment.. If you see something off, please leave a comment :)

So, you want to start playing World of Warcraft, or make a new alt on WoW, but are at a loss as to what to make next? Well, what do you want to do? There are three jobs a player in WoW can have, and every class you can pick does one. These jobs? Tanking, Healing, and Damage Dealing (DD). The most common group layout for a 5-man dungeon is: 1 tank, 1 healer, 3 DD. What classes can do what?

Warrior: Melee DD / Tank
Paladin: Healer / Tank / Melee DD
Hunter: Ranged DD
Rogue: Melee DD
Priest: Healer / Ranged DD
Death Knight: Tank /Melee DD
Shaman: Ranged DD / Melee DD / Healer
Mage: Ranged DD
Warlock: Ranged DD
Druid: Ranged DD / Melee DD / Tank / Healer

Each class has it’s own perks as to what they do for their given job; for instance, a druid healer works with heal-over-time spells, and a paladin healer works with big, single-target healing spells, while a priest can use party-wide heals. No class has the same way to approach a job as the others do.. And as a result, some classes tend to be less wanted in big raids, while others are more preferred.
